Blog - Workshop makeover and improved repair service
A new year means some renovation work to the shop. This year's plan was to refit the workshop. We started by clearing out the workshop and removing all the clutter from the old layout. Next we pulled out the bench to reduce it down to make room for a second workstation. We removed the old wooden tool board and replaced it with a new steel keyhole slotted board and re-organised all the tools removing some obsolete items and adding some new tools onto the new board. This left us with a more streamlined and efficient layout giving easier access to the bench and tool board.
After moving the workbench and relocating the truing stand and bench grinder we had to re-sheet part of the floor and the wall. Once this was done we painted the walls. Now with new carpet and new storage shelving we are well pleased with our workshop which future proofs our needs.
With advent of computerised diagnostics on Bosch, Yamaha and TranzX e-Bikes we have incorporated this into the new layout giving us the ability to move with the changing market.
Part of the revamp meant repositioning the wheel truing stand which is a well used tool as we carry out wheel truing on a daily basis. We also work on Shimano DI2 systems, bleeding hydraulic brake systems and overhauling Sturmey Archer AW hubs.
The past few months has also seen a change in our workshop staffing with the exit of our long standing mechanic. Our new mechanic, Steven Wiliams started with us at the end of August 2018. Steven is experienced in working with all aspects of bikes inc hydraulic Mountain bike brake systems, Electronic DI2 Road gear system, wheel truing, bike assembly, headset and bottom brackets replacement, Bosch Diagnostics and the list goes on. Working closely with Steven is Gavin Hanna who has over 15 years experience in the cycling industry. We now also have Jordan our sales assistant who does some of the walk-in repairs so if it is just a tube change you need or some small adjustments during the peek periods then we can get you back out on your bike as soon as possible. Furthermore, John Hanna himself is also still keen to work in the workshop and keep up to date with the changes in the industry.
Our experienced staff coupled with our relationship major suppliers like SRAM and Shimano, we can get the parts you need to get your bike going as quickly as possible, often within 24 hours. We also carry a large range of parts in stock.
So if you are looking for cycle repairs in Lisburn, we are in a convenient location on Chapel Hill and there is a loading bay outside our door so you can drop off your repair conveniently.
