Last October, we reported on the difficult situation in the procurement market. We have already explained that there will most likely be longer delivery times for spare parts or deliveries from the bicycle manufacturers.
These predictions have been confirmed and, according to our current findings, the global shortage of electronic parts, components and raw materials will remain problematic:
Global demand for these products and raw materials cannot be met by the existing supply.
Production of electronic components has been interrupted due to the Covid pandemic and has fallen behind (lockdowns, availability of precursor products, cancellation of work shifts due to illnesses etc)
Due to the pandemic, global logistics have already been disrupted for some time due to a lack of freight capacity. At present, container ships are stuck in Shanghai. We will feel the effect of this in Europe in a few weeks' time.
Furthermore, at present we are unable to assess the future development of global transport logistics against the backdrop of the current events in Ukraine.
Our Bosch eBike drive units, batteries or displays also rely on electronic components and other scarce third-party parts or raw materials. For this reason we will continue to be able to produce and deliver our components, but only with a certain delay.
We are exhausting all of our sourcing options and are continually looking for alternatives so that we have been able to realise orders in what we hope is a reasonable amount of time, and hopefully we can keep it that way.
Nevertheless, we would ask you again today to show understanding in accepting longer delivery times for our products and to inform your customers accordingly in service cases with affected spare parts.
We will continue to keep you informed and we thank you sincerely for your perseverance and patience in these times, which are not easy for any of us.
